A Bisaya in Cambodia

In Uncategorized on July 20, 2005 at 8:24 pm

Chum riep soo! Kumusta, mga higala.
Ako si Zarah, half-Ilongga, half-Bikolana, ug new addition to the growing Bisdak bloggers.

I was born in Roxas City, Capiz, but grew up in several parts of the Philippines. Spent 4 years of college in Cebu. Ingon sila kina-alegrehan gyud ang high school days. Dili ra ba in my case… mas alegre ang college. I was surrounded by a motley group of classmates and ‘colorful people’ who are now my life-long friends and whom I keep in touch with through email. Enjoy kaayo ko sa akong kurso, MassComm kunohay.. mas comedy diay to. Lingaw among internships. Nag reporter pod ko sa Freeman ug sa travel-oriented What’s on in the Visayas and Mindanao. Human graduation,I found myself working for two NGOs in Cebu. After my NGO stint, I went to Naga City to get acquainted with my mother’s relatives, found myself a job at ABS Naga, and stayed for more than 3 years. Kaabot ko sa Davao ug CDO while working with ABS. (Kung kahinumdum pa kamo sa programang Awitanghalan in the late 90s, with Pilita Corrales and Dante Luzon as hosts, usa ako sa mga regional coordinators niadto.) Lipaya nako uy, kay media gud ko. Media, as in media ang tubo… unsaon na lang, cute man, wa motaas (height).

Working with the community. And donors. Diri kay mingaw kaayo, although when traveling to the countrysides, pwerteng kulbaa. Crazy traffic. Dancing roads. Fear of stepping on a land mine. Dengue. Bird flu. Drought, and flooding at the same time. Weird? This is Cambodia after all. Everything goes. I like the chaos panagsa, pero loneliness would still find a way and set in. Last year ra nakatukod ug movie theaters ug mall diri. Astang lipaya gyud namo. Makalimtan ang homesickness and the blues. Better way of keeping family back home updated, ug mahasa akong writing skills both English and Bisaya. Labaw sa tanan, ma-ilaila ubang Bisaya bloggers. Salamat sa pagdawat nako.
